Review: 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass

By Wendy Mass

Book Summary:
It's Amanda's 11th birthday and she is super excited -- after all, 11 is so different from 10. But from the start, everything goes wrong. The worst part of it all is that she and her best friend, Leo, with whom she's shared every birthday, are on the outs and this will be the first birthday they haven't shared together. When Amanda turns in for the night, glad to have her birthday behind her, she wakes up happy for a new day. Or is it? Her birthday seems to be repeating iself. What is going on?! And how can she fix it? Only time, friendship, and a little luck will tell. . .

My Review:
The cover of this book just pops out at you doesn't it? The colors and the name are the things that reeled me in. In my opinion, the cover is just as impressive as the writing inside.

On Amanda's 11th birthday she can't spend it with her best friend Leo. Her birthday repeats itself. Over, and over, and over. She has to find a way to get out of it. The magical twist is what makes this book so great.

The author really takes you along with the characters. They make everything a mystery from the beginning to the end. The first chapter is  all about when Amanda and Leo were just babies. And the second tells memories from the children's past birthday's. I love all the memories they've made and that they've spent every single birthday together.

I really can't chose a favorite character in this book. Even if I tried, I couldn't all the characters were well thought out and have very interesting personalities.

This book I would suggest for middle graders. This is another one of those long books though. It is about 270 pages. But even if you don't like long books I would suggest you try this one if you're a mystery person. Now it's more magical then mystery. If it was mystery then it would be much more adventurous.

11 Birthday's has a sequel called: Finally 12
I will be doing a review on that in the next week or so.
